Amalfi Coast Stairway To Heaven
Amalfi coast stairway to heaven cover full
Greek legend has it Hercules went in search of Earth’s most beautiful locale in hopes of finding the rightful burial ground for his lost love, the nymph Amalfi. The place bore her name peacefully ever since. The coastline of endearing Amalfi stretches close to 50km along the Sorrentine Peninsula’s sunny southern side. Witness your true self thrive amongst the olive and blossoms pastiche, only to blossom under the umbrella of a silken Mediterranean climate.

Lap up sun, sea, lemon liqueur and icy gelato as you meander down city medieval alleyways and spiral stone staircases. Seek out such quaintly town cabochons as the tempting Sorrento, or archaic Ravello hugged by mossy castle walls. Dip your toes into the edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea, or cuddle up while the champagne chills, snug in a tapestried villa perched upon a limestone cliff. Every breath you take is sure to be filled with the piquant freshness of neighbouring lemon groves as laughter from a coastal road wine bar floods open windows with the pure, melodious notes of contentment.

Soft, moist breezes circulate between Amalfi and Scala, down in the Valle delle Ferriere, where rare ferns, or the woodwardia radicans, burgeon in this natural reserve. Terra cotta rooftops and whitewashed edifices dot the hillsides and linger a-top salty seaside views, while artisans sell their wares of ceramic potteries in the local squares. Many a honeymooner will vouch for the awe-inspiring sanctimony of the area – some claim it’s the closest thing to heaven a mere mortal can reach.

Check out the geological glamazon that is the Emerald Grotto, located in the bay of Conca dei Marini. Or escape for the day with the help of a hired boat out to the island of glossy Capri. Rent a moped from a handsome signore and venture out along wind-ripped, cliff-edge roads while dodging trucks, vans and other audacious automobiles. Catch your breath at the crypt of Saint Andrew within the refuge of the Duomo di Sant’Andrea. Romanesque columns, tile murals, and mother-of-pearl embellishments all contribute to this step-back-in time sense of exhilaration.
