Nail It
Nail it cover full
The nail polish blog niche is a surprisingly large one, even for the arcane-obscuring net. It must be the product’s beauty dexterity. At once a subtle accent and pop of color, catwalked lacquers are in-your-face without ever obstructing you face (sorry, rouge pout). That’s why they’re equally popular amongst tween mothers and free-spirited brides.
clever picks
As tempting as it may be, do not base your nail polish picks on the tongue-in-cheek names. Instead, opt for unusual shades, radiant finishes and the cream of the lacquer crop.
Nail it 1
(Clockwise from top left)
Sephora’s Dragee: The only thing hotter than lingerie is nothing, and this super-sheer pink borders tantalizingly on the nude.
Butter London’s Muggins: like lavender potpourri but grayer, this opaque lilac stops just short of pastel.
Essie’s Turquoise and Caicos: Chanel’s Jade made way for a world of greens (from mint to evergreen), including this cheeky, beachy aquamarine.
OPI’s The ‘It’ Color: This baked yellow delivers the sunned-socialite goods.
Nail it 2
(Clockwise from top left)
Rescue Beauty’s Bangin: A coral twist on cherry red’s self-evident sex appeal.
Color Club’s Trippie Hippie: A blue so electric it may just upstage your dress.
Zoya’s Veruschuka: No fad gets left behind as matte and metallic coexist within this emerald green.
Zoya’s Loredana: If velvet and concrete got together and made a baby, it would be this opaque and silvery gray.
Nail it 3
OPI’s Cajun Shrimp: An orangey-coral with serious bite. Keep a jug of water handy.
M.A.C.’s Wham Bam Glam: This taupe makes trendy chocolate brown look like… brown.
Nail it 4
Seek out nail polish that promises growth enhancing proteins, long lasting, quick drying properties, and an all-in-one finish. Turn your nose up to those operating on formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate when possible.
clever tips
Self-polishing brides should:
file first
moisturize their cuticles
clean their nails with remover, as oils can stop polish from sticking
paint beyond the nail’s edge and under the tip to prevent chipping
paint two thin coats as opposed to one thick coat for a faster dry time
